Who Are ‘Leeds D&D’
We are a group of friends mainly from the Leeds / Bradford area that meet at Travelling Man -Leeds on Monday evenings to play our favourite role-playing games (RPGs). We have a number of game masters enabling us to alternate running different RPGs systems each week. We also play a number of board games and card games.
Some of the problems most of us have faced with role-playing is getting started and finding a group. Leeds D&D aims to enable people to:
- discover like minded players
- make new friends
- discover new games
- form groups (public and private) that they enjoy playing with
- and most of all HAVE FUN
We love meeting and playing with new people and existing members though we have very limited space and a lot of interest. In order to spare players from the disappointment of turing up and not getting a seat at a table for their preferred RPG system we run most (not all) of our games sessions by invite only. We also run open game sessions for anyone to come along an play but to guarantee a seat at these games we advise arriving early.
Playing at Leeds D&D
There are two ways that you can play in a game at Leeds D&D:
- coming to one of our Games Days, Introduction Game or Open Games (see below)
- by invite from one of the game masters
you must be 18 or over to play. Except Games Days which are typically free and open to anyone over 14.
Each game session cost:
- £3 per person
- £2 per person with a 'Super Card Go' reward card
- No charge if you spend £10 in store on the day (receipt required)
- No charge if you are GMing
Due to a lack of space we cannot allow spectators therefore if you are not playing you will be politely asked to leave. For new players or people interested in RPGs we strongly believe that the only way to get a feel for an RPG system is to actually take part and play.
Game Days, Introduction Games, and Open Games
Our vehicle for finding new players, these sessions are a great way to discover role-playing for the first time, getting back into role-playing, and test out a new RPG system.
Introduction games do not assume any level of experience in the RPG system being played or role-playing in general and are open to everyone regardless of experience. These are run by our core game masters. The only thing you need to bring is some snacks and drinks, we provide everything else, though feel free to bring dice and rulebooks for the system if you have them.
Game Days are typically Worldwide events to support new releases and held on weekends. Beyond that they are essentially Introduction Games.
Open games may be run by any of our game masters and are open to anyone. These games may be pitched at varying levels of experience and may require you to bring pre-built characters, dice and rule books. Exactly what is provided, what you will need to bring, and assumed level of experience will be specific to each open game and will be included in the event details.
Please note that priority will be given to new players over existing members for all Game Day, Introduction Games and Open Games sessions but we advise arriving early to ensure you get a seat at the table.
Keep a look out for events in the calendar with Game Day, Introduction or Open in the title.
