"It seems like only yesterday that you had come north to escape the diseases that fester in the summer heat of Fallcrest. The travel has been enjoyable, and profitable, but almost as quickly as summer came, then the autumn rains started to fall. The genrous paths and roads you had travelled north upon were truned to mud, huge swamps spanning the forest floors, making them impassable. And so you were forced to carry on west, towards the Worlds Edge mountains, and hope that the old kings road to Winterhaven and then onto Fallcrest has been kept open.
Less than 2 sunrises later, and though you could swear you hadn't travelled further north, the rain turns to sleets, and then onto snow... Thick driving snow that makes walking difficult, and sheltering dangerous, as the winds whip the powder back into the air, depositing it in drifts against any stationary surface. So you huddle together and move slowly. Your mages keeping you warm with their arcane flames, but at what cost to themselves?
And so it is, that you are so intent on surviving the blizzard, that you don't see the approach of the huge being that loom over you, who seem angry with your presence and start shouting at you in an eldritch tongue 'The snow is wrong, the primal spirits are in turmoil, they cannot be heard when they speak'"
